SAN SABA — Funeral services for Wallace Maddox, 79, of Lometa, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, at Howell-Doran Funeral Home with the Rev. Sam Crosby officiating and Rev. Scott Edmondson assisting. Burial will follow at the Chadwick Cemetery in Lampasas County.
Visitation wil be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He died Saturday, June 28, 2008, in Lampasas.
He was born Aug. 8, 1928, in Sulphur Springs, Ark., the son of Charles William Maddox and Etta Ferguson Maddox. He was married to Bernice Lybrand on May 5, 1950, in Hot Springs, Ark. He was a member of the Lometa school board for many years, helped with the Lometa FFA Life stock show, helped found the Lometa Rural Water Supply System, graduated from the University of Arkansas and worked for ACCO Feeds for many years. He was a member of the Pecan Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Lybrand Maddox of Lometa; two sons, Tommy Maddox and his wife Kay, and Jimmy Maddox and his wife Beverly, all of Lometa; one daughter, Susan E. Simmons and her husband Bill of Corpus Christi; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Darel Maddox and his wife Joice of Bruce, Miss., and Jerry Maddox and his wife Lynda of Little Rock, Ark.
