Funeral services for Annie Mae Merritt, age 63, of Coleman, formerly of Dime Box and Brownwood, will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2009, at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Annie Scurlock officiating. Interment will follow in Greenleaf Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. today, at the funeral home.

Annie Mae died Friday, June 5, 2009, in Abilene Regional Medical Center.

She was born on Feb. 25, 1946, in Hoboken, Ga., to John and Irene (Altman) Merritt. She worked for several years for Brownwood Manufacturing and also worked as a Certified Nurse’s Aid.

Annie Mae is survived by her six children, Allan Bowen of Rosharon, Cynthia Wade and husband Billy of May, Fred Bowen and wife Trudi of Arizona, John Bowen of Georgia, Nicole Dennis and husband Howard of Coleman, and David Bowen of Brownwood; 10 granddaughters, Bridgette, Cynthia, Samantha, Briana, Jamie, April, Michele, Katelynn, Jenny, and Rachel; a great-grandson, Billy, who brought sunshine to her life this past year. She is also survived by her siblings, Martha Merritt of Georgia, Margaret Herrin of Georgia, Bettie Hutchins of Georgia, Margie Warrick of Dime Box, Johnny Merritt of Mississippi, Noah Merritt of Mississippi, Jimmy Merritt of Louisiana, and Jack Merritt of Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, Crystal Dawn Bowen, a brother, Hubert Merritt, and two sisters, Virginia Merritt and Cora Belle Crawley.
