CEDAR CREEK LAKE — Laura Ann Lednicky Arney, 67, died on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, after a courageous battle with very aggressive brain cancer. She was diagnosed in early December and accepted her grim diagnosis without fear or pity for herself.
Laura was born on Feb. 11, 1946, in Waco, to Benjamin Joseph and Billie Ellis Radle Lednicky. Her family moved to Brownwood in 1947. Upon graduation from Brownwood High School and Tarleton State College in Stephenville, she began a 32 year career as an executive secretary at Texas Instruments in Dallas.
Laura, “Lolly,” loved family, her four legged “baby,” Casey, reading, gardening and spending time with the many wonderful friends in her neighborhood. She was very active with the Property Owners Association, serving on the board as secretary for several years. Laura also loved music and had a beautiful voice. Her talent for playing the piano came naturally, and she shared that talent as the church organist during her high school years.
Laura was predeceased by her parents, Benjamin Joseph and Billie Lednicky; and her brother, Benjamin J. Lednicky Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Paul Arney of Cedar Creek Lake; her sisters, Carolyn Giles of Austin, and Marilyn Gostecnik of Houston. She is also survived by her step-children, Russell Paul Arney, Kristi Kay Coggins and Alisa Marie Dean; many nieces, nephews and their families, numerous cousins and life long friends that she cherished.
A celebration of Laura’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at the Bushwhacker Property Owners Association Clubhouse.
The family requests memorials be made to Hospice, 102 W. Grove Street, Kaufman, Texas, 75142 or a charity of your choice.
