Graveside services for Hazel Mae Alford, 85, of Early, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at the Salt Creek Cemetery with Chaplain Tony King officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Heartland Funeral Home.

Mrs. Alford passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009, in a local nursing home.

Mrs. Alford was born on Sept. 18, 1923, in Brown County, Texas, to Wallace A. Price and Elsie Davis Price. In 1949, she was married to Lawrence Alford in Beaumont, Texas. Early in her life she grew and sold African violets. She was a retired bookkeeper and had woked for Texas Laundry in Beaumont for many years. She returned to this area in 2001 and enjoyed doing crochet and cross stitch.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Clark and husband Kenneth of Perdido Key, Fla.; three grandchildren, Kerri Surdahl of Bartesville, Okla., Lisa Nelson and Brian Clark, both of Lake Dallas, Texas.; two great-grandchildren, Codi Nelson and Emily Surdahl; two sisters, Ethel Rainey of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Myrtle Mobley and husband Billy of Stephenville, Texas; and three nieces, Nancy Price of Early, Texas, Linda Parsons of Brownwood, Texas, and Terry Moore of Arlington, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Merle, Keith, Curtis and Chester Price and by two sisters, Edith Batts and Holyce Denman.
