Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel for Tommy Hanson Simpson Jr., “Tinker,” 49, of Blanket, Texas.

Our beloved dad, son, brother, Pots, Uncle and friend left us on Sept. 19, 2007, to help ready our home with the Lord.

Tinker was born on July 24, 1958, in Elizabethtown, Ky., to Tommy and Tinnie Mae Bush Simpson. He was the dearly loved grandson of Bill and Grace Simpson and Tom and Dennie Bush.

The most important thing to Tinker was his family. He was so proud of his son, Thomas “Justin” Simpson, and his grandchildren, Tyler James and Kelcy Lynn, were the light of his life. Tinker had a great passion for flying and had worked at the Brownwood Airport for 27 years. He had lived in Brown County for most of his life and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his parents, Tommy and Tennie Simpson of Blanket; his son, Thomas “Justin” Simpson and wife, Kimberly, of Blanket; grandchildren, Tyler and Kelcy Simpson of Blanket; one sister, Melissa Simpson Staggs and husband, Danny, of Blanket; his wife, Brenda Simpson, and her four children, of Brownwood; nephews, Blaik Mair of Blanket and Brandon Mair and wife, Nancy, and their twins, of Brownwood; and niece, Kyndal Grace Staggs of Blanket. He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many other close family and friends, including his flying buddies, Terry Brown and Bobby Burks, who shared his love of flying.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; an infant son, Cody Lane; and several aunts and uncles.
