Howard Fowler Cason was born on Aug. 5, 1922, in Brown County, Texas. He went home to be with the Lord on July 21, 2007, in Stephenville, Texas, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mamie and Robinett Cason. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Robinett Hugh, Hubert, Bernard and R. H. Cason Jr. and one sister, Ellie Lovelace Bowden.
Known as the greatly respected patriarch of his loving family, he is survived by one son, Rob Cason, and two granddaughters, Rachel and Allison Cason of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sisters, Berniece Cavel of Brownwood and Patsy Cason Williams of Stephenville; one brother, Stanley Cason of San Antonio; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Howard owned and operated Cason Conoco for a number of years and was a longtime rancher. He was a member of the Jones Chapel Baptist Church.
Always willing and eager to help his fellowman, he touched many lives. His keen wit and great sense of humor were assets to those who were blessed to know and love him. A bright smile and quick handshake or hug was his demeanor. Truly a Southern gentleman and “old time” cowboy, he will be greatly missed and never forgotten. His legacy is treasured by his family.
Family visitation of Mr. Cason’s life will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Davis-Morris Funeral Home in Brownwood. Funeral services will be at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. Tuesday July 24, 2007, with interment to follow in the Jones Chapel Cemetery.
