Funeral services for Bennie Mae Pelts Tervooren, age 79, of Brownwood, will be at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, in the Rocky Creek Baptist Church with Rick Justice officiating. Interment will follow in the Rocky Creek Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home of Brownwood. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 on Saturday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Tervooren passed away on Friday, Nov. 16, 2007 in Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
She was born on Feb. 10, 1928, in Sweetwater to Benjamin and Mae Burleson Pelts. She married Joseph Harrell Tervooren on April 25, 1951, in Brownwood. Bennie was a faithful member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church and the Martha Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker.
Bennie is survived by a daughter, Deborah Gwathmey and husband Lee of Brownwood; two sons, Douglas Tervooren and wife Vanessa of Brownwood and Dwane Tervooren and wife Susan of Elm Valley; five grandchildren, Silas Tervooren and wife Wendy of Brownwood, Crystal Jeys and husband Todd of San Angelo, Melissa Gwathmey of San Angelo, Jennifer Gwathmey of Brownwood, and Jessica Tervooren of Elm Valley; six great-grandchildren, Alyssa Gunyon and Bodey Jeys of San Angelo, Klayton, Shelby, Haley, and Koren Tervooren of Brownwood; and a brother, Trewis Pelts of Early.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a granddaughter Sara Tervooren, and a brother Calvin Pelts.
The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, Southside Baptist Church Building Fund, Rocky Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, or to Early First Baptist Church Building Fund.
