COMANCHE ó Funeral services for Virgil Clayton Evans, 73, of Temple, are set for 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Burns officiating.

Burial will follow in Downing Cemetery in Comanche County. Comanche Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home. Lunch will be at Taylorís Chapel Church at noon on Sunday.

Mr. Evans died Feb. 19, 2008, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Temple.

He was born May 6, 1934, in Proctor, the son of Mamie Taylor and Jessie C. Evans. He was a veteran and retired from the United States Army.

Survivors include two sons, Clayton Evans and Lee Evans, both of San Antonio; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Michelle and Robby Wagoner of Washington, D.C.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary and Doug Gilliam of Comanche and Betty Lou Reeves of Fort Worth; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Jesse Evans of Fort Worth and Bobby and Carolyn Evans of Longview.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Quint Evans.
