Opal M. Stewart, age 96, of Boerne and formerly of Comanche County, died Saturday afternoon in the Town and Country Manor in Boerne.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 19, at the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Comanche with her grandson, Todd Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Comanche County Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service.

She was born Sept. 14, 1915, in Comanche County, the daughter of the late Walter J. and Pear Cobb Fritts. Following graduation from high school, she was married to G. L. Stewart in Comanche County on Jan. 8, 1938. He preceded her in death in 1993. She was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church of Comanche, and had been a long time resident of Comanche County prior to moving to Boerne where she had resided for the past four years.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Selin-Oscansky and husband John of Boerne; grandchildren, Keith Smith and wife Barbara of San Antonio and their son Shelby Todd Smith and wife Teri of Blanket and their sons, Eric and Tyler Angela Herbertson and husband Bob of Harlington and children Cooper and Carli and Luke Stewart of Fort Worth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Lloyd Fritts and a sister, Velda Beaty.
