DE LEON — Funeral services for Adell Woodford “Woodie” Powell Jr., 79, are set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, at the De Leon Church of Christ with Bro. Geoff Litke and Bro. Kris Groda officiating. Burial will follow in the De Leon Cemetery. Nowlin Funeral Home of De Leon is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

He died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, in the Comanche County Medical Center.

He was born March 16, 1930 in Wylam, Ala., the son of Iva Elizabeth Howard Powell and Adell Woodford Powell Sr. He was married to Frances Richmon on Feb. 17, 1950, in De Leon. He was a custom farm contractor and member of the De Leon Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Powell; three sons, Garry Powell of De Leon, Roy Powell of San Angelo and Ronald Powell, also of De Leon; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Imogene Davis.
