COLEMAN — Funeral services for Maudine Blount, 85, of Odessa, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with Sealy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Coleman City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Henderson Funeral Home.
She died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007, at Sherwood Place in Odessa.
She was born June 16, 1922, in Gomez to Elmer Hopkins and Francis Adeline Whitley Green. She was raised in Terry County. On Dec. 20, 1940, she was married to Freddie Blount in Brownfield. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2007. She was a resident of Santa Anna from 1956 to 1975 then moved to Plains, and in 1986 she moved to Rising Star. They operated the Freddie & Maudine Blount Acoustical Musical while in Rising Star. In 2004, they moved to Odessa. She was a member of the Baptist church and a homemaker.
Survivors include three daughters, LaFaunda Buford of Odessa, Anneda Merchant of Arlington and Wanelda Morton of Cisco; a son, Freddie Blount of Bangs; sisters, Corene Benton of Midland, Jewell Nessel of Stratford, Okla., Ireta Davis of Frankston and Wileta Roberts of Hereford; a daughter-in-law, Debra Blount of Coleman; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
