FORT WORTH - Funeral services for Metta Dasa Burney, 92, of Brownwood will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at First United Methodist Church, with Don Scroggs officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery in Fort Worth. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, at Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
She died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at her house.
She was born Feb. 22, 1919, in Shiloh, Texas, to Eva Dee and R.C. Byrd. She was married to L.M. Burney in August 1943 in Groesbeck. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Brownwood. Her life revolved around her family. Her greatest dream for her children was for them all to graduate from college, which they all did.
Survivors include her son, Munger Burney and wife Donna of Crawford; two daughters, Metta Collier and husband John B. of Stephenville and Betsy Taylor and husband Kevin of Lubbock; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
