COLEMAN - Funeral service for Dollie Jean (Bucy) Sparkman, 79, of Coleman will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Mike Kerzee officiating and assisted by Dr. Bob Murchison. Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
She died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, in Coleman.
She was born May 29, 1932, in Borger, to Seth Madison Bucy and Dollie Mae Keith Bucy. On Feb. 18, 1950, she was married to Wayne Sparkman in Coleman. She worked for Union Oil Company of California as Executive Secretary for 13 years. Following her retirement from Union Oil, she became secretary for the family business, Sparkman Pipe and Supply Company, then at Claydesta Commications as Administrative Supervisor for two years. She worked at J. E. Stevens Company in Coleman for three years. She later became an office manager at Stevens Funeral Home until her retirement in September of 2010. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Coleman and she was a charter member of the Fine Arts League of Coleman County.
Survivors include her two sons, Bill Sparkman and wife Nellie of College Station and Darwin Sparkman of San Antonio; son-in-law, Monte Meers and wife Sherry of Abilene; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Bucy Davenport of Boise, Idaho, and Theda Rhea and husband Sherrell Hazelwood of Coleman; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Stella Tune; brother, Jim Bucy; daughter, Marcie Meers; and a great-grandson.
