Funeral Services for Carrol Lee Lancaster, age 79, of Early, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Allen and the Rev. Tim Skaggs officiating, interment to follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. He passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, in Brownwood.

Carrol was born on March 15, 1928, in Brownwood, Texas, to the late Louis and Bertha Lancaster.

He married Betty Bennie on Jan. 27, 1951, in Early, Texas, and worked for the El Paso Natural Gas Company as a dispatcher for 30 years before retiring and moving to Brownwood in 1986. Carrol loved to play golf and fish, and was a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church.

Carrol is survived by his wife, Betty Lancaster of Early; a son, “Rick” Lancaster of Pasadena, Calif.; daughter, Vickie Carole Lancaster Sledge and husband Bill of Houston; brother, Jerry Don Lancaster and wife Olene of Brownwood; two sisters, Ernett Chrane and Grace Gray, both of Brownwood; two sisters-in-law, Marie Lancaster of Early, and Marie Lancaster of Abilene; friends, C.D. Kinnard of De Leon, Texas, and Mildred Posey of Jal, N.M.; three grandsons, Rowdy Fulfer and wife Bridgot, and Cory Fulfer and wife Wendy both of Jal, N.M., and Bryan Sledge and wife Erica of Midland, Texas; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia Moss and husband Edwin; and sister, Dorothy Lancaster; two brothers, L.B. and Herman Lancaster; and two brothers-in-law, R.V. Chrane, and Virgil Gray.
