Funeral services for Charles Ray Jones, age 83, of Brownwood will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the First Baptist Church in Bangs with the Rev. Lee Evans officiating. Interment will follow at Bangs Cemetery under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at Netherton Funeral Home, and also will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Bangs. Mr. Jones passed away Thursday afternoon at his home.

Ray was born Sept. 1, 1924, in Concord, Texas. He had been a lifetime resident of Brown County. He was a service station owner/operator for over 30 years, as well as a rancher. Ray married Marie Robbins on June 9, 1945, in Concord. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include his children, Danny and Nancy Jones of Brownwood, Scotty and JoAnn Jones of Brownwood, Steve and Peggy Jones of Brownwood and Phil Jones of Brownwood; sister, Eunita Templin of Fort Worth; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Jones; parents, Robert Howard and Alice Mae Jones; brothers, Howard Jones and Bob Jones; and sisters, Marie Burroughs, Lena Reynolds and Melba Collier.
