Irene Baker, age 89, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2008.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday June 12, 2008, at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bill Allen and Brother Tim Skaggs officiating.

She was born April 18, 1919, in Elvins, Mo., to Girney and Bessie (Davis) Merritt. She lived most of her life in St. Francois, Mo. She moved to Brownwood, Texas, in 1999 to be near her family.

She is survived by her son, Donnie Midgett and wife Judy of Amarillo; daughters, Barbara Gard and husband Jim of Palmetto, Florida, Carol Williamson of Brown-wood, Linda Bullington and husband Steve of Lawrenceville, Ga., Judith Spears and husband, David of New Castle, Pa., and Jane Kocis and husband Tom of Colleyville, Texas. She had 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She worked for many years as a secretary for First Baptist Church in Park Hills, Mo. She loved serving others through her church, and continued to serve in Coggin Avenue Baptist Church in Brownwood.

She leaves many dear friends in Missouri and Brownwood, and she was especially blessed by the faithful, caring staff at Oak Ridge Manor.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Coggin Avenue Baptist Church in Brownwood, Texas.

She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
