John Stacy Stephens, age 90, of Bangs passed away Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at a local nursing home. He was born Sept. 14, 1917, in Brown County, to John and Mary Stephens. He was a graduate of Bangs High School. He married Corene Strange in Coleman, in 1945. He was a rancher, owner of a service station and worked for 3M Company for 15 years. He was a member of the VFW, and a Baptist. He was the last surviving of four brothers who served overseas in the U. S. Armed Forces during World War II.
He is survived by one son, Roy Charles Stephens of Waco; a sister-in-law, Louisa Stephens of Bangs; and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife Corene; one son, Joe Don Stephens; his parents; one sister, Leora Stephens Ragsdale; and three brothers, Dr. J.B. Stephens, R.B. Stephens, and Ben Stephens.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday morning in the Bangs Cemetery with Bro. Wayne Lewis officiating, the family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening, at Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
