Funeral services for Dorothy Sue Thompson, 75, of Brownwood, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 15, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dan Chapman and the Rev. Neill Trull officiating. Her grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

    Mrs. Thompson passed from this life on Monday, April 12, 2010, at a local nursing facility.

    Dorothy Sue Throckmorton was born on August 6, 1934, in Levelland, Texas, a daughter of James and Dorothy Tillery Throckmorton. She was married to William J. “Bill” Thompson Jr. in Comanche in 1962 and together they owned Thompson Surplus. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church and a longtime resident of Brownwood.

    She is survived by her brother, Sonny Throckmorton of Nashville; three daughters, Sherry Chapman of Brownwood, Kelly Franke of Early and Willetta Anderson of Santa Anna; two sons, Ricky Stokes of Corpus Christi and Donny Thompson of Brownwood; several grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Dorothy Throckmorton; her husband, William J Thompson Jr.; and her sister, Sharon Hager.
