SANTA ANNA — Virgie Holland Morgan, age 88, of Santa Anna, passed from this life at 12:15 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center in Brownwood.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Santa Anna with the Rev. Jim Hart and the Rev. John Stanislaw officiating. Interment will follow at The Santa Anna Cemetery with services under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Henderson Funeral Home.
Virgie was born March 5, 1922, in Shields to the late Orron Curtis and Annie Laura McIntire Holland. She was a lifetime resident of Coleman County where she attended the Shields and Santa Anna Schools and graduated from Buffalo Schools. On Nov. 8, 1946, Virgie was married to Garland Edward Morgan in Coleman and they celebrated 40 years of marriage. Garland preceded her in death in 1986. Virgie was a member of the First Baptist Church, Dorcas Sunday School Class, Santa Anna Senior Center and Santa Anna 84 Club. She was the head dietitian for the Ron Jackson Texas Correctional Youth Commission until her retirement in 1982, had worked as a Coleman Telephone operator and was a dairy farmer.
Survivors include a daughter, Roberta and husband Tex Tomlinson of Santa Anna; daughter-in-law, LaNelle Morgan of Grapevine; two sisters, Ada Streetmeyer of Lake Park Shores, Fla. and Doris Jean Beckwith of Forestburg; a brother, Johnny Holland of Taft; grandchildren, Kim Rutherford and husband Cecil of Brookesmith, Eddie Tomlinson and wife Donnie of Early, Katrina Guerrero and husband Roger Jr. of Santa Anna, Charles Morgan and wife Janet of Rhome and Krissy Ferguson and husband Ed of Hurst; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Virgie was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Edward Morgan; two sisters; and three brothers.
