Wiley Ballard, 67, passed away Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at the Hospice of Midland Inpatient Unit after a battle with cancer.

Wiley was born Nov. 16, 1941, in Coleman County to Chester and Etta Frazier Ballard as the youngest of 15 children, and grew up in Gouldbusk. He attended Mozelle High School, graduating in 1960. He moved to Midland in 1960 and went to work for Drilco Industries for 23 years. He was married to Carol Lee Watters in Coleman on June 16, 1962. He drove a truck until January 2009, when he had to retire due to health problems.

Wiley is survived by his wife, Carol, of Midland; daughters, Traci and her husband Danny Tercero, and Julie Ballard of Midland; his little buddy, Gabe Tercero; brothers, Bill and his wife Barbara Ballard of Big Spring, and Chester Ballard of Brownwood; sisters and brothers-in-law, Clara and Buck Row of Midland, Allene Cope of Coleman, Melba Wesson of Brownwood, Aleta and James Trigg of Corpus Christi and Joan and Don Stanton of Silsbee; sister-in-law; Reba Watters of Midland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel in Midland with Pastor Robert Frazier officiating. Interment will followed in Serenity Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Joe Watters, Lance Watters, Terry Row, John Evans, Harlan Metts, and Ronald Baker.
