Funeral services for Eugenia Neeley Chambers, age 79, of May, will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2007, in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the Wolf Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Genie died Sunday, May 20, 2007, in Abilene Regional Medical Center following a brief stay. She was born on Jan. 27, 1928, to George and Georgia Neeley near Blanket. She graduated from Brownwood High School in 1945 and Daniel Baker College in 1948. She taught Language Arts in the late 1940s and early 1950s, married Curtis Chambers on Nov. 5, 1952, and paused her teaching career to raise her family. Later she returned to teaching as a teaching aide and volunteer for the May ISD for 20 years.
She is survived by her three children, Curtis Chambers Jr. and wife Marie of Williams, Beth Renfro and husband Rod of May, and Dr. Bill Chambers and wife Marcia of Cabool, Mo., a sister, Freddie Ward Cunningham of Brownwood, 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews round out her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Memorials maybe sent to the West Texas Rehabilitation Center or to the American Heart Association.
