A celebration of life service for Lavonna “Vonnie” Gayle Ellison, 60, of Lake Brownwood, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at her home, 8577 Rocky Top Road, Lake Brownwood. Cremation is under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Lavonna passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer She was born on Aug. 11, 1947, in Mangum, Okla., to William Leon “Hook” and Eugenia Joyce Grady Hayes. She graduated from Midland Lee High School in 1965. Vonnie worked as an accountant for Drillco in Midland from 1978 to 1986 and Agripressa in Midland from 1989 to 1995 and Rotonics in Brownwood from 2002 to 2005. She also had Bramas Bakery in a local flea market. She had been a resident of Lake Brownwood for the past 11 years, moving here from Midland.
Lavonna is survived by her longtime friend, Mackie McDonald of Lake Brownwood; two sons, Jimmy Trice and wife, Jennifer, of Midland and Eddie Lynn Trice of Siloam Springs, Ark.; two sisters, Jeannie Craig and husband, Joe, of Lone Oak and Terri Parker and husband, Emmitt, of Robert Lee; a brother, David Hayes and wife, Bridgitte, of Robert Lee; a stepson, Quen McDonald and wife, Denice, of Canton; six grandchildren, Charity and Courtney Trice of Midland and Kyle, Justin, and Wrangler McDonald of Canton, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Allan Cass and the staff of the Walker Cancer Center at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
