Funeral services for Irma Lee Benge, age 80, of Brownwood, will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at the Austin Avenue Church of Christ with Roland Bowen and Bo Shero officiating. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Benge died Monday, June 9, 2008, in Brownwood. She was born on Nov. 28, 1927, in Hamilton County to Lee Basil and Lilly (Williams) McPherson. She was married to Joe B. Hyde on Dec. 8, 1945. He died Feb. 9, 1968. She later was married to Alton “Buddy” Benge on Feb. 3, 1973, in Stephenville. Irma worked for 3M Company for more than 26 years as a human resource secretary. She was a longtime member of Austin Avenue Church of Christ.

Irma is survived by her husband of 35 years, Buddy Benge of Brownwood, two daughters, Madaline Hampton and husband Charles of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Beth Collard and husband Phil of Hillsboro; a son, Timothy Lee Benge and wife Jurita of Santa Anna; eight grandchildren, Derek Hampton and wife April of Abilene, Leslie Hudelston and husband Chad of Douglasville, Georgia, Brooke Winter and husband Ken of Conway Springs, Kan., Landon Collard and wife Kristen of Amarillo, Marina Benge of Santa Anna, John B. Bourne and Katelyn Bourne, both of North Charleston, S.C.; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Dr. Ronald McPherson and wife Janie of Farmers Branch, and a sister, Belle Vines of Hempstead.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Joe B. Hyde; a brother; a sister; two daughters Tracy Benge and Tammy Bourne; and a grandson, Brady Collard.
