J. P. White was born May 8, 1906, in Jones County, Anson, Texas. He passed away Nov. 10 at Texoma Medical Center. He was the son of James Marion and Lucy Holt White. J.P. was a graduate of Anson High School.

In 1930, J.P. began an insurance career with Floyd West in Dallas. J.P. married Mattie Lee Goad in 1943. In 1944, he moved to Lamesa and bought an insuance agency.

J.P. retired from insurance in 1971; he and his wife moved to Lake Brownwood.

He was preceded in death by his wife, father and mother, five sisters and two brothers.

J.P. was a member of Central United Methodist Church and Friendly Fellows — Susanna Sunday School Class of Brownwood.

He was a 65-year member of the Masonic Bodies, past Master of Brownwood Masonic Lodge 279 and past District Deputy Grand Master.

He was a member of Dallas Scottish Rite Consitory 32 degree K.C.C.H. He was a member of Order of Eastern Star 116 and advisor for Order of De Moley.

J.P. was past Lieutenant Governor of Kiwanis of Lamesa.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Eastlawn Memorial Park with Dr. Gary Torian officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday evening at Netherton Funeral Home.

J.P. is survived by a nephew, Dick White and wife, Oneta, of Fort Worth; nieces, Frankie Staber of Wichita Falls and Jaymie Smith of Ackerly. He is survived by several grand nephews and nieces and great grand nieces and nephews. He is survived by his wife’s nephew, Millard Goad and wife, Barbara, and his dear friend Frances McCune.
