SANTA ANNA — Funeral service for Harry Crews, 98, will be at 2:30 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna.
He died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at his home.
He was born June 13, 1909, in Coleman County to James Henry and Tula Amanda Pitts Crews. He attended Bowen Schools and graduated in 1927 from Santa Anna High School. He was married to Margaret Roberts on June 10, 1934, in Coleman. He was a lifetime resident of Coleman County and had lived in Santa Anna since 1945. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Methodist Men and Santa Anna Lions Club and was a Boy Scout leader for many years. He was a carpenter and owned and operated Santa Anna Lumber for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Crews of Santa Anna; a daughter, Dixie and husband Gerry Dyer of San Angelo; three granddaughters; one step-grandson; 10 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Crews in 1995; one sister; and one brother.
