RISING STAR — L. J. ‘Blackie’ Linney, 74, of Rising Star, Texas, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2010, in Rising Star Nursing Center in Rising Star, Texas.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Rising Star, Texas, with Terry Simmons officiating. Burial will be in the Rising Star Cemetery in Rising Star, Texas, with Higginbotham Funeral Home of Rising Star in charge.
Blackie was born on Nov. 11, 1935, in Midland, Texas, to Lester Erving Linney and Juanita Jewel Kinsey-Linney. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a farmer and a pipe liner. He lived in the Rising Star Community for all his life.
He is survived by his two sons, Bobby Linney and his wife, April of Brownwood; Tommy Linney and his wife, Vicki of Grandview; brother, Billy Don “Bud” Linney of Rising Star; five sisters, Barbara White of Rising Star; Carolyn Chambers of Brownwood; Sandie Hutton of Rising Star; Debra Ann Chambers of May; Patricia Hutton of Rising Star; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Bobby and Tommy Linney’s mother, Geneva Bethany; best friend and longtime companion, Dale Hammer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Aubrey Gale; Ervin Dale and Lonnie Ray Linney; sister, Peggy Lynn Roan.
