Stephen Jack Lowe, 61, of Brownwood, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, at Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood.

Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.

Stephen Jack Lowe was born Oct. 24, 1945, in Brownwood, the son of John Lowe and Nyo Lefner Lowe. He grew up in California, graduating from Hemet High School in 1963. He graduated from San Bernadino Valley Junior College with an Associate of Arts degree in 1966 and from the University of Montana at Missoula with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education in 1974. After graduation, he was hired by the New York Mets baseball organization in their minor league system as athletic trainer for eight years.

He drove for Mayflower Transit Co. for 21 years, retiring in 2003. He was a Baptist, and had a great love for sports and traveling the world. He will be missed by all.

Stephen is survived by his mother, Nyo Lowe of Brownwood; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert F. and Carolyn Lowe of Brownwood; uncle and aunt, Dwight and Glenna Lefner of Bethel, Alaska; nephew, Robert E. Lowe and wife, Jeanna, of Coleman; nieces, Nancy Trowbridge of Brownwood, Katherine Redmon of Burgin, Ky.; three great-nieces; and four great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Lowe, on July 28, 1977; paternal grandparents, Robert E. and Anna A. Vaughn Lowe; maternal grandparents, Stephen G. and Mary E. Weedon Lefner and uncle and aunt, DeWitt and Wanda Lefner Fields.

Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2007, at the funeral home.
