Funeral services for Iris Claudine Beakley McMillian Reuman, age 94, of Dallas, formerly of Brownwood, will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at the Austin Avenue Church of Christ in Brownwood, where she and her family had been long-time members before moving to Dallas. Interment will follow in the Eastlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2008.

Mrs. Reuman passed into the loving arms of God on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at her home in Dallas. Claudine was born May 7, 1914, in Milburn, Texas, to Edgar Claude and Ettie Penn Beakley. She was blessed by two wonderful marriages. She married Walter McMillian on Oct. 24, 1935, with whom she lovingly reared four children.

He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather until his death May 5, 1969. Claudine married John Rueman Sr., July 5, 1986. They moved to Dallas in 1995. John was a gentle and loving husband, step-dad, and grandfather until his death, Feb. 9, 2003.

Mrs. Reuman received her LVN nursing license in 1955. She worked as a surgical scrub nurse for 25 years. Her nursing career at Brownwood Memorial Hospital and Brownwood Regional Medical Center was defined by her great compassion and empathy for her patients as she often visited them after working hours. After her retirement, she enjoyed serving as a member of the Hospital Auxiliary Volunteers, and being a member of the A.B.W.A. She was a member of Prestoncrest Church of Christ in Dallas.

Claudine was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Claude and Ettie Penn Beakley; husbands, Walter McMillian and John Reuman Sr.; step-son, Jack Reuman; two sisters, Opal Barnett Wilson, and Ruby Pointer; three brothers, Bill Beakley, Harry Beakley and Charles Beakley; and a grandson, Buddy Williams.

Claudine is survived by two sons, Donnie McMillian and wife Joyce of Melissa and Ronnie McMillian and wife, Gerry of Blanco; two daughters, Barbara Holland and husband John of Mesquite, and Beverly Williams and husband Wayne of Carrollton; step-son, Kim Reuman and wife Christina of Morrison, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, June Beakley and Rita Beakley.
