Charlie Mae Wells, 95, of Brownwood, Texas, went to be with the Lord Sept. 9, 2009. She was born in Loco, Okla., March 2, 1914, to Ule and Lillie Holden. She graduated high school and Lawton School of Business.

Charlie Mae was married to Aaron Wells on Nov. 24, 1935, in Duncan, Okla. They had one child, Nell Marie. Aaron worked for Haliburton and Spartan Oil Company. They moved all over the southern states until 1948 when they moved to Winters, Texas, and lived there until 1964. At that time they retired and traveled. They moved to Lake Brownwood in 1984. Aaron passed away on May 4, 1995. At that time Charlie Mae moved to Monte Vista, Colo., where her daughter lived. She found so many great friends there and a wonderful church family, Calvary Baptist. Charlie Mae loved her Lord, her family, church and friends. She was loved by all in return.

She is survived by her daughter, Nell and husband Jimmy Phillips of Early, Texas; one grandson, Jim and wife Sherry Phillips of Lake Jackson, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Josh Phillips of Lake Jackson and Shawna and husband Mike Carrigan of Danbury, Texas; three great-great-children, Eloy, Joaquin and Mady all of Danbury and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, two brothers and two sisters.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Brown County. The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. today, at the Heartland Funeral Home.
