SAN SABA — Funeral services for Frank Zapata, 92, of San Saba, will be at 10 a.m. today at Howell-Doran Funeral Home with Deacon Richard Menchaca officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in San Saba.
A Rosary was held Thursday at the funeral home.
He died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, in San Saba.
He was born June 4, 1915, in Castroville, the son of Francisco and Juanita Navarro Zapata. He was married to Elodia Martinez on Dec. 4, 1950, in Plainview. They later moved to San Saba where they lived most of their married lives. He worked as a farmer and sheep Shearer.
Survivors include his wife, Elodia Zapata of San Saba; three sons, Ramiro and his wife Tura Zapata of High Island, Chino Zapata and his wife Cynthia of San Saba, and Frank Zapata III and his wife Norma of Kempner; three daughters, Cristina Menchaca of Copperas Cove, Yolanda and her husband Amado Hernandez of San Saba, and Maria Zapata of Flower Mound; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lenora Gomez of Lamesa and Pauline Rodriquez of San Saba.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Irene Martinez; and three brothers, Catarino Zapata, Lupe Zapata, and Felipe Zapata.
The family requests that memorials be made to the San Saba County EMS.
