ABILENE — Grady Othor Morrison, 85, died Monday, July 16, 2007, at Windcrest Alzheimer’s Care Center in Abilene.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Highway 277 South, officiated by the Rev. Jack Ridlehoover.
Graveside rites with military honors will follow in Potosi Cemetery.
The son of Della Marie (Carlile) and Auther Thomas Morrison, he was born on April 15, 1922, in Mount Vernon, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army as a technician in Company C of the 135th Armored Ordnance Maintenance Battalion during World War II. On March 17, 1944, Grady married Modene Goodloe in Brownwood. He moved to Abilene, and in 1957 purchased Abilene Welding Supply shortly after he began working for the company. He owned and operated the business until 1983.
Grady moved to Lake Brownwood, continuing to work in the welding industry until his retirement in 1987. Mr. Morrison was a member of First United Methodist Church in Early, Texas. His parents, four sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Modene Morrison of Abilene; a son, Ken Morrison and wife, Stacy, of Midland; daughters, Kathy Davis and husband, Jeral, of Abilene, and Karen Forbes and husband, Ocie, of Brownwood; seven grandchildren, Lesa, Tina, Michael, John Paul, Mindy, Jason and Mackenzie; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
