RISING STAR — Funeral services for Johnny Glenn Clay, 69, of Rising Star will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at the First Baptist Church in Rising Star, with Terry Simmons officiating. Burial will be in the Pendergrass Cemetery in Comanche County, under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Home of Rising Star. The family will have visitation at the funeral home on today from 6-8 p.m., 803 N. Main St. Rising Star.
Johnny passed away on Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at Rising Star Nursing Center, in Rising Star.
He was born on June 1, 1939, in Wills Point, to Jesse Carroll (Riley) and Ola Mae Hill-Clay. He graduated from Sidney. He served in the United States Army. He lived in the community since 1972. He worked in the Auto Body Repair business. He was a Member of the Eastside Baptist Church in Comanche.
He is survived by his sons, Greg Clay of Rising Star, and Johnny Clay Jr. of Ft. Riley, Kan.; four daughters, Angela White, Laura Alexander, Melissa Evans, and Becky Clay all of Rising Star; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four brothers, Jesse Clay of Henderson, Mansel Clay of Early, Travis Clay of St. Helens, Ore.; three sisters, Barbara Chamberlin of Carthage; Macie Kinard of Graham, and Pat Holden of Comanche. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Wanda Clay.
