Larry James Byrd, 43, of the Grosvenor Community, in Brown County, passed away Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Brownwood Regional Hospital after a short illness. Graveside services, under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home, will be held 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at the Fairview Cemetery with Bro. Kelly Crenshaw officiating. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. today at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Larry was born Oct. 21, 1965, in Brownwood, to Martin James and Joyce Cille (Stanley) Byrd. He attended and graduated from Bangs High School in 1985. He attended church at the First Baptist Church of Grosvenor, worked as a cattle rancher, and later as a merchandising clerk for various food and merchandising firms. His past times were spent with his dogs and watching movies from his vast collection of VCR tapes.
Mr. Byrd is survived by his mother Joyce Byrd; uncles, Melton Stanley and wife Nancy of Brownwood, and Bill Stanley and wife Sharla of Comanche; numerous cousins; and special friends, Dickey and Wyvetta Casey, James Smiley, and Don and Shirley Kirkland. He was preceded in death by his father Martin James Byrd and both his maternal and paternal grandparents.
