COLEMAN — Imogene Rushing, 85, of Coleman, and former long-time Odessa resident, died Tuesday, June 23, 2009, in Coleman. The body will be cremated and a memorial service will be held in Bell Cemetery in Palestine. Arrangements were made by Stevens Funeral Home, in Coleman.
She was born Aug. 26, 1923, in Loco, Okla., to Steven and Beatrice Pipkin Bell. On Sept. 28, 1940, she was married to L. D. “Buck” Rushing in Shreveport, La. During World War II, she worked as a welder on Liberty Ships in San Francisco. She also served for many years as secretary.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Allen and husband David of Humble, and Carolyn Stevens and husband Randy of Coleman; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers.
