W.D. “Webb” Masters, 84, of Early, died Tuesday morning at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with James Satterwhite officiating. Cremation will follow under the direction of Heartland Cremation Services.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born Feb. 12, 1923, in Snyder, the son of Thomas Watson and Virginia Mae Horton Masters. He attended schools in Abilene and later attended Hardin-Simmons University. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and later married Betty Jo Rushing on March 6, 1948, in Roby, Texas. They lived in Abilene prior to moving to Brownwood in 1972. He was a building contractor prior to his retirement and was a Church of Christ member.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Masters of Early; two daughters, Linda Gail Benson of Brownwood and Patricia Neal Johnson of South Padre Island, Texas; one sister, Vonda Ruth Niece of Lubbock; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, with another expected in two weeks.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Tommy Joe Masters.

Memorials are requested to be made to the Walker Cancer Center at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
