Maria Marta “Lola” Sanchez Escamilla, 85, passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, at Brownwood Regional Hospital following a lengthy illness. Lola was born on July 22, 1922, in Robstown, Texas, to Demetria Morales and Justo Sanchez. She married Able Cortez Escamilla on Oct. 16, 1942, in Rodriguez, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant son Gilbert; three brothers Anastasio, Encamaclon, and Benito Sanchez. Three sisters, Juana Dominguez, Herlinda Sanchez, and Margarita Sanchez.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Abel; sons, Able Jr. of Brownwood, Robert and wife Hilda of Fort Worth, Alfredo and wife Kyoung of El Paso and Jesse of Brownwood; daughters Rosa Escamilla of San Jose, Calif., Gloria Moreno and husband Joe of Brownwood, Maria Stella Nieto of Fort Worth, Irma Reynolds and husband Richard of Harper Heights and Margarita Escamilla of Fort Wayne, Ind.; grandson Hans Adrain of Brownwood; sisters Antonia Rangelof Plainview, Vicenta Velasquez of Dallas, Aurora Morales of Laredo, Maria Lopez of Streamwood, III.; half-sister Alicia Sanchez of Laredo, brother Ismael Sanchez of Houston, 25 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and other half brothers and sisters.
Visitation and viewing will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary on Friday, Nov. 16, at Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas. Services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1105 Main in Brownwood at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007.
Her family would like to express their profound appreciation to all of Tri-State Home Care for their years of care, to the staff at Regional Hospital Medical Center, the doctors who have taken care of her through her illnesses and for their compassion. Also special thanks to those who showered her with kindness.
We all loved you dearly and even if your are gone, you shall live in our hearts forever!
