Graveside services for Bobby Joe Jernigan, age 74, of Arlington will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2009, in the Indian Creek Cemetery in Brown County With Troy Christian officiating. Heartland Funeral Home in Early is in charge of arrangements.
Bobby passed away Sunday, May 31, 2009, in an Arlington hospital.
Bobby was born on Sept. 26, 1934, in Kemp, Texas, the son of the late Henry and Mary Barnett Jernigan.
Bobby was married to his wife of 34 years Ella Wells Jernigan on May 16, 1975, in Grand Prairie. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and spent most of his working life as a manager in the laundry business. He was a Baptist. He had been a resident of Arlington for the last 34 years, and was formerly from East Texas. Bobby had a great love for his family especially his children and grandchildren. He also loved fishing and tinkering with cars.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Wells Jernigan of Arlington; son, Gary K Jernigan of Garland; daughters, Sarah “Cricket” Hargrove of Arlington, Shannon Jernigan of Cedar Hill, and Tammy Fowler of Arlington; brothers, Tommy Jernigan of Dallas, Jackie Jernigan of Iola, Texas and Joe Henry Jernigan of Grand Prairie; grandchildren, Danielle Hargrove, Taylor Hargrove, Lexie Fowler, and Casie Foy; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother.
