SAN ANGELO ó J.R. Cawyer, 87, of San Angelo, passed away Monday, Aug. 27, 2007, at a local care center.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at Johnsonís Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at Southgate Church of Christ. Graveside service with military honors will be at 3:30 p.m. at Cox Cemetery in Mercury.
J.R. was born Sept. 7, 1919, in Mercury to John Ray and Annie Ruth Cawyer. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant after 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Air Force Sergeantís Association and Southgate Church of Christ. He married Sadie Cox on Nov. 25, 2000, in Brady.
J.R. was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Beth Batts.
Survivors include his wife, Sadie Cawyer of San Angelo; two grandchildren, Michael Batts of Chicago, Ill., and Brian Batts of Seattle, Wash.; one brother, James Cawyer of Garland; one sister, June Drake of Duncanville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
