COLEMAN – A memorial service for Jim Butler, 55, of Coleman, will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, at his home, Rock House Ranch, 1968 County Road 348, Coleman, with the Rev. Paul Blake officiating. His body was cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
He died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, at his home.
He was born March 10, 1954, in Fort Worth, the son of Ann Koonce and Homer Butler. He graduated from Richardson High School and the University of North Texas. He owned the Broken Spoke Saloon, a tire and automotive store in Frisco, worked in real estate and was a home inspector. He moved to Coleman three years ago and started ranching. He was married to Rebecca Bernal on July 11, 2009, in Bangs. He was also a member of The Concord Baptist Church in Bangs.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Butler of Coleman, one daughter, Stephanie Butler of Denton; one son, Travis Butler of Richardson; his mother, Ann Butler of Granbury; one step-son, Anthony Martin of Austin; and his biological parents, Richard and Carolyn Oaks of Mission.
He was preceded in death by his father, Homer Butler; and a sister, Elizabeth Ann Nunley.
