Buddy Hale, age 56, of Brownwood passed away Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center from a complication after surgery.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at the Church of Christ of Early, Texas. Burial will follow at Blanket Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, at Heartland Funeral Home in Early.

Buddy was born Jan. 16, 1952, the son of Roy and Reibe Hale in San Saba, Texas. He was married to Cathy Conn March 3, 2001, at Blanket First Baptist Church. Buddy was a retired principal with surrounding school districts. He was a volunteer fireman with the Early Fire Department for eight years. He also served as a City Councilman with the City of Early. Buddy has served as a deacon with the Early Church of Christ. Buddy loved to hunt and fish and loved to spend time with his family and mostly playing with his grandchildren who called him Pop-Pop.

Buddy will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors are his wife, Cathy Hale of Brownwood, Texas; sons, Justin R. Hale and wife Barbara of Stephenville, Texas, and Kenny Nabers of Stephenville, Texas; daughters, KayCee Hale Rivers and husband Keith of Murphy, Texas, and Kimberly Simpson and husband Justin of Blanket, Texas; grandchildren, Arial, J.T., Kaytlin, Jacob, Jake, Tyler, Hannah, and Kelcy; sisters, Mary Cummings and husband Ben of Richland Springs, Texas, Viola Deland of San Saba, Texas, Rachel Howell and husband Eddie of Fort Worth, Texas, and Karen Trevino and husband Richard of Brownwood, Texas; brother, Roy Hale and wife Denise of Plano, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Reibe Hale; and sister, Lorene Blaylock.
