COMANCHE — Billy Leroy Adams, age 59, of Comanche, died Monday June 2, 2008, at the V.A. hospital in Temple. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday June 5, 2008, at the Heartland Funeral Home of Comanche with Gary Ward officiating. Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at the funeral home. His body was cremated under the direction Heartland Funeral Home of Comanche.
Billy was born at the Blackwood Hospital in Comanche on Oct.23, 1948, the son of Roy and Virginia Grigsby Adams.
He attended school in Comanche, and on March 15, 1969, he married Lou Barret in Comanche.
He was a highly decorated Vietnam veteran serving his country through the United States Army.
He worked as a foreman at Zachary Construction in San Antonio.
He had been a resident of Comanche most of his life.
Survivors Include one daughter, Marcy Adams of Ingram; father, Roy and wife Margaret Adams of Brownwood; mother, Virginia Schumaker of Stephenville; two brothers, Richard D. and wife Maril Adams of Olney, and Steve L. Adams of Stephenville; one nephew, Wes Adams of Georgetown; two nieces, Kristin and husaband Jason McKittrick of Weatherford, and Emily and husband, L.V. Coffee of Eastland; two great-nieces, Kennedy and Kamryn Coffee; one uncle, Lee D. Adams of Del Rio; one great-uncle, D.M. Vines of Lufkin; and one great-aunt, Martha Nell Northcut of Stephenville.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Hill Country Youth Ranch, P.O. Box 67, Ingram, TX 78026.
