GOLDTHWAITE — Funeral services for John Truitt, 79, of Temple, formerly of Goldthwaite, will be  at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at Stacy-Wilkins Chapel, with Dayton House officiating. Burial will follow in Oakview Cemetery in Mullin. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

    He died Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, in Temple.

    He was born Dec. 1, 1930, in Mullin, to Williams Samuel Truitt and Minnie White Truitt. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was married to Mary Singletary on Sept. 10, 1954, in Panhandle. He was a member of the Church of Christ, and worked in welding and construction.

    Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee Truitt of Temple; children, Liz Ashmore and Rucker of Marble Falls, Johnny Truitt Jr. and Chris of Bangs, B.J. Truitt and Carla of Belton, Joy Duncan and Johnny of Goldthwaite, and Sam Bell and Gloria of Goldthwaite; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Martin of Brownwood and Ann Padron of Belton; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

    She was preceded in death by two sisters, Theda Ruth Truitt and Vista Van Huss.
