CROSS PLAINS — Funeral services for L. D. Koenig, of Cross Plains will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2009, at Higginbotham Chapel in Cross Plains, with Ronnie B. White officiating. Burial will follow in the Cross Plains Cemetery.
Mr. Koenig passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Oak Ridge Manor in Brownwood.
He was born July 4, 1919, in Coleman County, Texas, to Edwin Carl and Lenora Gable Koenig. L. D. was a retired postal clerk, also self-employed in the oil industry, farming and ranching business. He was a member of the American Legion. He was married to Martha Nan McAdams on Jan. 28, 1938, in Cross Plains.
He is survived by two sons, Lynn Koenig and wife Teresa of Pioneer, Eddie Koenig and wife Diane of Cross Plains; two daughters; Mary Hutchins and husband Darvel of Lake Brownwood, and Jerry Johnson and husband Andy of Ranger; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Queenie, and a brother.
