Tommy Tagoras, age 68, of Bangs, died Thursday morning at his home following a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Lake Brownwood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Torian officiating. Burial will follow in the Bangs Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early.

He was born Dec. 18, 1941, in Waco, the son of Antonio Andrew and Margaret Arnold Tagoras Sr. He began playing drums for the Cowboy Weaver band when he was 12 years old and continued most of his life. He was married to Cheryl Vandagriff at Lake Brownwood on July 1, 2006. She preceded him in death on June 11, 2009. He was a member of the Lake Brownwood United Methodist Church and the Bangs Masonic Lodge. He had lived in Bangs for the past five years and had formerly lived in Athens for many years.

He is survived by a brother, Roger Berry of Waco; and two sisters, Noma Biles and Melba Langford, both of Waco. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his wife; Cheryl Tagoras; his parents; and a brother, Johnny Berry.
