ROCKWOOD — Funeral services for Jake McCreary, 84, of Santa Anna, the Coleman County Precinct 2 commissioner for many years, will be at 2 p.m. today at Rockwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Rockwood Cemetery under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna.
He died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at Abilene Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 8, 1923, in Rockwood to Jake McCreary Sr. and Gussie Box McCreary. He was a lifetime resident of Coleman County and graduated in 1941 from Rockwood High School, and attended Texas A&M. He was married to Sammie McIlvain on Dec. 8, 1945, in Fort Worth. She died in 2004. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a stock farmer, member of the Coleman Rodeo Association, Santa Anna Lions Club and American Legion Post 0345 Texas.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Leslie and Mickey Davidson of Big Lake, and Sharon and Bobby Lee of Cisco; two sisters, Claudia Rutherford of Santa Anna, and Billie Eckles of Duncanville; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Sealy McCreary.
