COMANCHE — Bryan James Underwood, age 48, of Comanche died Sunday morning at the East Texas Medical Center in Tyler following a lengthy illness.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m.Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Comanche with Dennis Stewart and the Rev. Dale Meincke officiating. Burial will follow in the Pecan Wells Cemetery in Hamilton County.

He was born Dec. 27, 1958, in Santa Barbara, Calif., the son of Alvin and Mary Lou Reeves Underwood. He had lived in Comanche for the past four years and was married to Jamie Sturgis at Tyler on Aug. 26, 2003. He worked in the construction business.

He is survived by his wife, Jamie Underwood of Comanche; his mother, Mary Lee of Comanche; one son, Jesse Underwood of Comanche; six daughters, Cassie Proud of Kansas City, Kan., Amanda Richmond of Granbury, Dawn Richmond of Sulphur, Okla., Sara Osborn of Comanche, Tasha Richmond of Comanche and Hallie Ross of Booneville, Ark.; three stepdaughters, Julia Welch, Kristen Sullivan, Lara Sullivan all of Tyler; three brothers, Bobby Underwood of Minnesota, Billy Underwood of Texarkana, Ark., James Lankford of Bentonville, Ark.; two sisters, Betty Richmond of Comanche and Barbara Thatcher of Booneville, Ark.; and his very special “girls,” his dogs Madeline, Sunny and Lady.
