COLEMAN — Services for Howard Stephenson, 82, of Coleman and Leaday, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rex Stephenson and the Rev. James Posey officiating. Burial will follow in the Leaday Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral Home.
She died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, at Coleman County Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 28, 1926, in Leaday, a son of Ike and Mary Alice Gann Stephenson. He grew up in Leaday and attended school in Leaday and Mozelle. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Phillipines.
He was married to Dorothy Finlay on March 23, 1954, in Brownwood.
He lived in Leaday until moving to Coleman in 1984. For 16 years he was the county commissioner for Precinct 3, Coleman County. He also farmed and ranched. He was a member of Leaday Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Stephenson of Coleman; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and David Huggins of Santa Anna, Shirley and Jay Rankin of Coleman; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one brother, Lonnie Stephenson and wife Tooter of Brownwood; and two sisters, Sue Stephenson of San Angelo and Annette and Ray Galloway of Brownwood.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Wayne Stephenson; and two brothers, James and Bill Stephenson.
