ROTAN — Billie Jean (Rivers) Vittitow Flake, 74, died Friday, May 23, 2008, in Brownwood. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at First Baptist Church of Rotan with burial in Belvieu Cemetery under the direction of Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Billie Jean was born March 13, 1934, in Hobbs to Charles Elyet and Lova Lee (Hyde) Rivers. She graduated from Rotan High in 1952. Billie Jean married Harrel Vittitow March 30, 1952 at Rotan. Harrel passed away in 1962 and she was married to Paul R. Flake Jr. in Amarillo on May 11, 1963. Paul passed away in 2003. Billie Jean received an Associate Degree as an LVN from Hendrick School of Nursing in 1982. She loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed singing and playing the piano and organ.
She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Delaine Vittitow of Austin and Tom and Tracey Flake of Early; two daughters and a son-in-law, Suzanne and Jerry Wallace of Georgetown and Penny Marie Flake of Brownwood; a brother, Bobby Chester Rivers of Rotan; a sister, Murlene Rivers of Canyon; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
