Anne L. Smith, 90, of Brownwood and formerly of Mercury died Monday morning at Songbird Lodge Nursing Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2007, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Keith Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in the Holt Cemetery in San Saba County.

She was born Sept. 18, 1916, in San Saba, County, the daughter of the late Walter and Molly Hardman Gober. She grew up in the Holt community and later married James Philip Smith in Florida in 1943. She worked for a short time at Brownwood Mfg. but spent most of her life as a devoted housewife. She was a member of the Brookesmith Baptist Church but attended the Mercury Baptist Church often. She had lived in Brownwood for the past three years moving from Mercury.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Graham Miller of Mercury; three grandsons, James Miller of Austin, Craig Miller and wife Nina of Mercury, Kavin Miller and wife Wendy of San Antonio; a granddaughter, Christina Vogel and husband Clay of Brady; six great-grandchildren, Cantrell, Cassie, Ashley and Brianna Miller and Caylee and Cayson Vogel; a sister, Mabel Arnold of Brownwood; and a brother, Leonard Gober of San Angelo.

She was preceded in death by her husband and ten brothers and sisters.
