Funeral services for James Walters, 66, of Brownwood, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, at the Netherton Funeral Home Chapel, with Pam Woodcock and Brother Tony King officiating. Interment will follow in Zephyr Cemetery under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
Mr. Walters passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at a local nursing facility.
James Allen Walters was born on December 30, 1944, in Baird, Texas, to Ellis Walters and Vernie Brown Walters. He married Betty Netherton on November 16, 1984 in Brownwood. James was a lifetime resident of Brownwood.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Betty Walters of Brownwood; his children, Tammy and Mike Galloway of Brownwood, James and Sylvia Walters of Brownwood, Donnie Walters of Brownwood, Doug Walters of Brownwood, Sharon and John Wayne Stewart of Gatesville, Charles Jr. and Gwen Walters of Brownwood, Sheila and Rick Woodcock of Brownwood, Renea and Jeff Morrow of Brownwood, Saundra Diaz of San Marcos, Glenn and Linda Aaron of Lake Brownwood, Ronnie and Bonnie Walters of Henderson, Pam Woodcock of Brownwood; 50 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by brothers and sisters, Charles Walters Sr. of Brownwood, Lucille Cumba of Brownwood, Bonnie Roberts of Abilene, Donnie Walters of Henderson, Wanda Netherton of Brownwood and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Vernie Walters; his first wife, Linda Walters, grandson, Christopher Walters and his great-granddaughter Jazmyn Barron.
